Smooth sailing, or maybe train-ing from Antwerp to Delft this morning. Our Delft apartment is an old building right on a canal (and there are many such canals here).

Good news, the sofas are lovely. I’ll take pictures tomorrow in the morning light. The challenge is the bedrooms are up some very steep stairs while the toilet is downstairs where the kitchen and living room are. We try to be very organized to reduce the number of trips up and down.

Today, May 5, is Liberation Day for the Netherlands. This day commemorates the end of the Nazi German occupation during World War II (which lasted for 5 years). On a tip from our friend Esther (who we are excited to see tomorrow), we strolled to Doelenplein to join the celebratory crowds enjoying food, drink and live music.
We ensconced ourselves at Hanno Groots Cafe. We neglected to take pictures of the food but I had a grilled chicken dish from Iraq and Grubb had a Lebanese preparation of sea bream. Small portions. All delicious.

Above: Stating the obvious…canals!

I like the sunglasses, very hip.
