Yesterday, a day trip to Nara, home to a famous deer park and several temples, shrines and gardens.

At Kohfukuji, a temple that originated in 630, I paid my 200 Yen and received Good Fortune #47.
Nothing goes the way you would like at first, but if you work hard perseveringly, you will receive the blessing of the Divine and a good fortune you had never imagined will be yours.
ILLNESS: It will be prolonged, but you will recover.
LOVE MARRIAGE: A bad beginning, but things will improve if you are sincere.
THE PERSON YOU AWAIT: He will be late.
LAWSUITS: You will win sooner or later.
LOST ITEM: It is not in your possession. It will come to you from without.
BUYING & SELLING: No profit if you rush things.
BUILDING/MOVING: Don’t hurry; think carefully.
TRAVEL: If you are prepared.
MONEY: If you are not in a hurry, matters improve.
EXAMINATIONS: Keeping your nose to the grind pays.
What to make of that?
The knock on fortune tellers is that they just tell you want you want to hear, good things. This fortune has several bad things, maybe to avoid that problem. But the good always comes later after you have suffered some and persevered over time. So be careful, work hard and wait for your reward. Good advice but pretty general.
Very Buddhist I thought. And random. You fish the fortune out of a box of fortunes. Maybe I should have paid another 200 Yen ($1.37) to see what other fortunes I could get.
Some timely financial advice I hope
That’s for sure!
