We’ve moved on to Kyoto but I wanted to give a mention to this great restaurant back in Naoshima. Our second night we tried the New Olympia, a tiny sushi restaurant. By small I mean 5 seats at the counter , two western style tables and one tatami mat table. WOW. Out of this world good. We chose the set meal which had six (small) courses. I forgot the first one, sashimi, grilled fish, broiled fish, sushi, soup. The types of fish and soup were whatever the chef chose.

Why name a Japanese restaurant in Japan Olympia? Same thing I wondered the next morning when I saw the name of the ferry. I’m guessing gods. Naoshima is dedicated to the gods (Shinto) as is Mt Olympus. Dunno.

Okay, now I’m jealous. Sushi in Japan. Enough said.
Melts in the mouth. Love the sashimi.
