My navigation skills took a hit today. If there is one thing I am good at (just like Grubb prides himself on distinguishing sweets from soap) it’s being able to get us where we need to go.
Unfortunately today, instead of arriving at Byodo-in Temple expecting to see a fabulous Amida Buddha, carved gold phoenixes on the roof top and a main hall full of treasures…we arrived at Byodo-ji Temple, a small noisy corner Temple mostly under repairs.
I know you are thinking -in….-ji…what’s the difference? Um, several miles and a UNESCO World Heritage designation. I had to swallow a whole lot of pride when I admitted to Grubb we were at the wrong place.
Okay but there was this cute little critter.

Still, there were some clever signs to add to my growing collection. Like stuff you could buy with English translation. And how to worship.

Did you ever make it to the right temple? I’m guessing not, as there are no photos or discussion of it.
Your guess is correct. We let that one go. Maybe on the next visit 🤷🏼♀️
