Today calls for an “all layer” day for me. Inner to outer = turtleneck + blouse + light sweater + thinsulate jacket + rain jacket / wind breaker.
Grubb’s layers = long-sleeved tshirt + rain jacket. No surprise to anyone who knows him, he has two modes of dress: jacket on / jacket off.
Grubb packed 7 long sleeved T shirts and one jacket. Three pairs of pants. Two are rain pants with all kinds of zippered pockets. Meant just for our Kumano Kodo hiking but so comfortable and practical, he wears them all the time. One pair of chinos, never wears. He says he over packed by 3 shirts and his chinos.
We had a couple warm days in Kyoto (high 70s, low 80s with humidity) so I *encouraged* Grubb to buy a short sleeved shirt. Not easy finding XL size here. We struck out at several places until I noticed a shop that specialized in hiking gear and carried LL Bean, Patagonia, and Northface and they had stocked a few items in XL. He wore the newly purchased T-shirt for two days and now here we are in chilly Kanazawa.

91% humidity! You’re not in New Mexico anymore Dorothy.
The mist stuck all day. Would be nice to have a few days like that in NM.
