It’s been a year since we’ve traveled out of the country. Last year, Japan. Shinto, Buddhism, beauty, politeness. This time, Belgium.
Population: Close to 12 million people, densely packed. Home of the famous waffle. Birthplace of French fries (yep, according to Belgians, it wasn’t France), headquarters of the European Union and NATO (Brussels), a constitutional monarchy, three official languages (Dutch, German, French). Even more importantly – the Smurfs came from here. Ha, you thought I was going to say Belgian chocolates.
We’ve got a month and will travel primarily by train. We’ll take jaunt to Delft and den Haag to see our friends. Maybe a foray into Germany. Stick with us and we’ll discover Belgium together. Or maybe you’ve been and have some tips for us. Don’t be shy. Let us know.

We are in the same zone as Madrid. Are you? Always fun to be in the same zone.
Hey we are in the exact same time zone! Amazing. Spain is always a little earlier than it should be by the Sun but that puts it in tune with much of the rest of europe. We’ve heard that Franco wanted to have the same time zone as Hitler. (But don’t quote me on that.)
We will be in Germany and France at the same time! Bonnnes vacances!
