From Kanazawa to Toyama. We are in Toyama for 2 nights only. By Shinkhansen, it was under a 30 minute ride.

Toyama is our last stop before Tokyo.
Below. Sign in the Kanazawa train station. Japan has a reputation for being very safe. BUT, with the influx of millions of tourists, well, not all tourists are as upright and honest apparently. The camera “voyeurism” refers to guys trying to get inappropriate photos looking up a woman’s skirt. And on local trains that can get very crowded, there have been groping issues leading to certain cars being designated as female only. The voyeurism and groping are ongoing issues with the locals as I understand it.

I’ve posted signs like this before. But just to emphasize the detailed and clear signage, the next three photos are what is posted at each train car entrance. Each car has a front and a rear door entrance.
Kind of a “you are here” sign. Also, some trains have a few cars with unreserved seats. Most cars are reservation only. We were traveling on the Kagayaki so all seats were reservation only.

This may seem obvious but since we don’t always know the direction of travel this sign is helpful when trying to locate our car. Cars are *usually* numbered with car number one at the front of the train (relative to direction of travel).

On the train, in every car.

In the women’s toilet, a seat for your baby.
