A massive city. The largest city on earth. Could be its own country. Bustling, busy, lots of people looking trendy. Big City, Earth.
That was our last ride on. Shinkansen (from Toyama to Tokyo). Last stop on our 6 six week blitz through Japan. First day of Golden Week. Kind of a spring break for the country. Today, April 29, is Shōwa Day honoring the birthday of Emperor Shōwa (Hirohito).
We have 5 days to go. We are facing Tokyo with the attitude that whatever we can see and do is fine. Whatever we miss doesn’t matter. There is no place on earth quite like Tokyo.
I can’t even imagine being in a place that big. Before I read what you said about “whatever we miss doesn’t matter” I was thinking how can you not worry about all the things you cannot possibly see. Good that you have a state-of-mind plan. It is very wise I think.
Unimaginably huge. We could spend a year here and still have things left to see. If you lived here and wanted to get out hiking somewhere, it’d be a major effort. Although with shinkansens you could get all the way to the Kii peninsula for example in a couple hours. Or up north for some skiing. If you could afford it that is.
