It’s been a year since we’ve traveled out of the country. Last year, Japan. Shinto, Buddhism, beauty, politeness. This time, Belgium.
Population: Close to 12 million people, densely packed. Home of the famous waffle. Birthplace of French fries (yep, according to Belgians, it wasn’t France), headquarters of the European Union and NATO (Brussels), a constitutional monarchy, three official languages (Dutch, German, French). Even more importantly – the Smurfs came from here. Ha, you thought I was going to say Belgian chocolates.
We’ve got a month and will travel primarily by train. We’ll take jaunt to Delft and den Haag to see our friends. Maybe a foray into Germany. Stick with us and we’ll discover Belgium together. Or maybe you’ve been and have some tips for us. Don’t be shy. Let us know.
