More pics from Agneta Park

Posted on May 8, 2026 by Ella

We had dinner again with Esther at her home in the UNESCO neighborhood Agneta Park. Her son-in-law, Josh, and two granddaughters were there as well. Very cute Juneau and Cleo (not sure I’ve got the spelling correct).

The founders. She looks quite severe

Abive: more bird life near the pond. Photos says Grey Heron. I think it’s in the family but doesn’t seem quite like a grey heron

I got a little more information about the “mayor’s wife” chicken dish she served us a couple of nights ago. The official name is “Chicken from the mayor’s wife with Dijon “. Although Esther says she uses Dutch mustard rather than Dijon. Anyway, I’m going to try this at home.

On the walk over, I took a few more pictures of the area. See my post “catching up with old friends brings joy” for the background on the place.

The yeast factory is gone. Now there is a bio-tech lab working on meatless meat

Ella: There is a very good app called “iNaturalist” where you can give it a photo and it provides an identification. Sometimes it is just generic, but often it is very specific. It’s free to boot.

Thanks Henry. I do know about that app. Photos (used to be called iPhotos) does a similar thing but it’s built right in so you don’t have to do anything. Grubb has a separate app he uses for plants that so far does a little better than Photos with plants.

I use an app called “Picture this” , it’s pretty accurate, for plants and insects.

Ah. I haven’t tested Photos with insects yet. Identification just keeps getting better and better.

In the spirit of “show me yours and I’ll show you mine”, Google Lens says grey heron and so does Claude.

Excellent. It’s unanimous. A grey heron it is 😎
