An on time flight from Albuquerque to Seattle yesterday afternoon with Alaska Airlines and the seat next to me was the only empty seat on the plane. Luck or magic?
Claudia, Margaret and I converged last night at a Hilton right across from the SeaTac airport. In fact, just a 10 minute walk along a covered raised walkway, cross International Av on the skybridge, elevator down to ground and 1/2 block to the hotel.
The main dinner food choices in the area are hotel restaurants and no one has outdoor dining. So we chose Spencer’s, the restaurant here at the Hilton, ordered takeout online from our rooms and when the food was ready, took it out to the garden courtyard. Since the food pickup was handled at the bar, we of course included a glass of wine for each of us. The bartender did a generous pour. The food was so so.
We chatted in the sweet cool damp air for a few hours. Even though it’s been 11 years since our last in person visit, it was like no time had passed. Or it could have been the wine.
This morning, Nancy texted me that her flight was going to be on time. That would make 4 out of 4 on time, no glitch flights. Maybe the air travel industry is beginning to right itself. Or the route to Seattle is magic no matter where you are coming from.
Today’s main concern is getting to the ferry on time. What a life, huh?
I promise to finally take some photos for the next post. Hopefully of our island and lots of water. And maybe even have a little more action to report. One never knows what four 70+ year olds will get up to.
