Today’s journey is from Dades ( blue dot near top) to the desert camp at Erg Chigaga (red balloon near bottom). I don’t know the exact route yet as Ali is fond of taking the road less traveled. I do know it will take about 7 hours plus stops.
The thin, squiggly black line near the bottom is the Algerian border. Ali tells us there is a drug problem, drugs being smuggled in from Algeria to Morroco. The border is well guarded by the armies (Algerian and Moroccan) with lots of cameras and radar. If you try to cross, you will be found, says Ali.
