Christiania is a “micro nation”, or perhaps one could call it an independent municipality, within Copenhagen. Founded in 1971 when some folks decided to put down roots on an abandoned military base. One can imagine a group of young, hippiesh libertarians rebelling against the corporate world.
The laws in Christiana are simple but I can’t help wondering how some of them passed muster with the crowd.
There used to be cannabis stalls along Pusher St (otherwise known as the green light district). But most were torn down because of turmoil with the police who felt free to invade. There is, however, still a strong weed aroma and smoking weed is fairly common within the area.
