Are “girls” bikes and “boys” bikes cross cultural? I assume that you see, in Denmark, women riding bikes with high cross bars but do you see men riding bikes like the one in the photo?
I’ll have to be a little more observant about that but in general I think yes. Some younger people have crossbar bikes and the position where you have to lean over. Most still have “shopping” bikes where you sit upright and can carry saddlebags for groceries. Some (like Hendrik) have both a shopping bike and a bike for longer distances. E-bikes are getting popular. Esther had just bought herself a shiny new E-bike.
On further thought, I am going to hypothesize that most shopping bikes (used by men and women) don’t have crossbars because it would be quite awkward to dismount given the big saddlebags on the back.
Seems like an eclectic combo of modern and old. I am looking forward to seeing it in the future.
