A moment of reflection

Posted on May 6, 2023 by Ella

Post by Ella.

Today marks 3 years since my father, Joe Sitkin, died.  He was 100-1/2 and lived a rich life. Rich in family and friends. Dad had an endless curiosity about everything. My parents were travelers taking every opportunity once we kids were grown. They biked through China in the 70’s, tooled around Europe with their biking buddies, and have been to places on nearly every continent. You might say that traveling is in my genes thanks to my dad (and mom of course).  Mom (now 101-1/2) regales us with tales of places they went that we are about to go to. Life is one big circle.

I am so pleased that you remembered dad on his day of death. I’ve just lit a candle for him and said a prayer.
I remembered so clearly all the trips we made abroad together and with friends and how we urged ourselves to make all
those miles, arriving at our destinations hot and tired, while feeling hyped at the same time.
I’m so glad that you and Grubb are following in our footsteps and enjoying your travels also. Happy Travels!
    Love
    Mom

That is so beautiful Aunt Gussie. I remember many of your trips east along with Uncle Joe and Ella. I always loved hearing about your travels and watching photos of places you have been along with the infamous map in your office if every place you have been clearly marked with pins. So many countries. I actually tell your stories to friends when they go to places you have been!

I observed Uncle Joe’s Hebrew Yahrzeit last weekend and said the memorial prayer for him and lit a candle. I miss him very much.

      Love you,
      Sharen❤️

Love that story Ella. So many wonderful memories of Aunt Gussie and Uncle Joe when they traveled east and I traveled west. I am thrilled you are carrying on their legacy for sure! They were so blessed to be able to toodle around the country in their RV and the world was their playground. Miss Uncle Joe so much. I said a memorial prayer for his Yahrzeit last weekend as I do every year. RIP Uncle Joe! I am pretty sure Aunt Gussie is telling you many stories so you can choose where to go next!

Happy to be reading you blog and traveling vicariously through you smd Grubb!!!😂❤️

Well said, Ella. We are thinking of Joe today, too. We miss him very much and are feeling
thankful for all the wonderful life lessons he shared with us.
