Out of Denmark, into Sweden

The Oresundstag train serves both sides of the border and the train station one metro stop from our apartment in Copenhagen. All just too easy. We had downloaded the Skånetrafiken app (transportation for all of southern Sweden and also serves the Denmark/Swedish border). We purchased the train ticket to Malmo in the app. And when we arrived in Malmo, we purchased a 24 hour pass (unlimited bus, train in the Malmo area) for 62 SEK (Swedish kroner) = US$6.10.

Side note: Grubb pointed out that not once, while we’ve been traveling, have we had to show our passport except passport control when we flew into Amsterdam from the US. And by the way, when we boarded the flight to Amsterdam in Chicago, a camera took our picture and we weren’t even asked to show a boarding pass. No hotel / apartment host has asked for our passports.

So anyhoo, we are in Malmö for the next 3 days.

We got off the train at Malmo Central station and decided to walk the 18 minutes to our hotel.

It is a gorgeous day

We have scaled down from our spacious 2 bedroom apartment in Copenhagen to a one bedroom apartment in the More Hotel Västra Hamnen at Lilla Varvsgatan 26.

So, we decided, since most museums are closed today, we’d wander, find some lunch, and take in The Disgusting Food Museum. Not sure which of us came across that little gem, but hey, what a thing to visit after lunch. Grubb will elaborate.

Wow, so different from Spain. We’re constantly having to show our passport. Always to check into a hotel. And even to buy train tickets.

Looks like a very comfortable hotel. Modern and spacious.

We were very surprised about the passport deal. And the room is quite okay. And the double glazed windows and the doors onto the patio really muffle the noise so it’s pretty quiet.

I don’t remember needing to show our passports (maybe rarely) in Austria and Germany. We withdraw money from ATMs. Maybe if you actually go into a bank to get cash.

It seems travel through most of Europe is pretty open. Traveling in Morocco was more like Spain. Every Riad made copies of our passports.
