The fantasy world that I thought would be Malmo actually turns out to be an open-air museum in Lund called the Kuturen in Lund. Stretching over two blocks, buildings replicating structures that Scandinavians have lived in since the Middle Ages are laid out in a village format and open for inspection. It was like a cultural theme park content to end its history in the 1930s. Other than ducking to get in and out of doorways, I felt right at home. To sit on a bench by the pond reading a book plucked from a bookshelf in one of the nearby homes, that’s right, Malmo, that’s the life!
I love things like this, seeing how people lived in the past. What’s that stuff on the roofline of the white house? Something to prevent leaks in a thatched roof?
That’s a good question. It looked like extra thatch or straw. And there are steel or iron (I think) spikes up there maybe to prevent birds from nesting.
Or keep the raccoons from climbing into the chimneys.
