Yesterday was a travel day. One of those days where much of the day is spent waiting. Our train wasn’t until 2:15. We had a late breakfast and hung-out in our room until nearly checkout time (noon). We slow rolled the 10 minute walk to the Gothenburg train station. We walked up and down the length of the station then out to the square across from the station. We stood and watched people. We found a bench in the shade and sat and watched people.
We went back into the station where there was an Espresso House. I got a bagel with cream cheese and sparkling water. Grubb got a huge cappuccino and a kardemummenbaler (his Swedish pastry of choice). We sat and watched the people.
We sauntered towards out to the train. It wasn’t ready for boarding yet. We sat on a bench on the train platform and watched people.
We finally boarded, and sat and watched the scenery for three and a half hours. Along with the antics of a dozen teenagers who seemed to be on a school trip.
And then boom! We pulled into Oslo. Alive. Active. Loads of people. Laughing. Out for a fun time on a Saturday night.
With luggage in tow, we managed the 12 minute walk to our AirBnB near the waterfront, got into our apartment on the 7th floor (more on the apartment later), and then out to find dinner and have a walk on the docks. Grubb will say more about that.
I can totally empathize with travel days. I never worried about checkout times before but you have to hang out somewhere. Lots of waiting and figuring out which place you are going to eat.
