Last night we ate at Bryggen Tracteursted, a little place tucked away from the busy dock area. They serve “traditional” Norwegian food.
Aquavit of the day. It’s growing on me. But pricey.
You can see what we each chose.
Mine was a disappointment. Stock fish prepared Italian style? What was I thinking? Not gonna make that mistake again. The fish was stringy and dry despite being a stew. The sauce was cream based, but somehow grainy. The polenta was good though.
Grubb loved his grilled reindeer stuffed with goat’s cheese with a side of Rowan berry jelly. I had a bite. Nice and tender.
Lunch today: Reindeer dog with all the trimmings from a corner hot dog stand. When in Bergen, one must have this. I can hear my Vegan friends and family groaning…no Ella, you really don’t…but hey, the Sami have been herding reindeer for nearly 2000 years.
For dinner tonight, Ethiopian, at a hole-in-the-wall place called Savannah. No aquavit but they did do a generous pour of a glass of Pinot Grigio. Sorry, no pictures. Except the wine.
Avoiding the Whale I assume?
Oh, you noticed 😉
