I forgot to include information about the Gallery we stopped in on our brief tour of Lofoten. Galleri Espolin, dedicated to Kaare Espolin Johnson (1907 – 1994), an artist new to both of us. Kaare struggled with poor eye sight from a very young age and as a young man, lost the sight in one eye and developed cataracts in the other. He was able to distinguish only a few colors.
Another omission, the Viking house. The bus drove by before the guide could finish the explanation in three languages. But we did understand that this was the longest Viking house ever excavated. Grubb says it looks like the hull of a capsized ship stuck on the ridge of a hill. No windows. And we have no photos. But, here is the valley of the Viking house.
