Moving around Stockholm will be a bit of a maze today and tomorrow, June 2 – June 3. The Adidas Stockholm Marathon is in town. The Marathon website touted the beauty route through scenic and historical areas, which, of course, are exactly where tourists are wanting to go. The race ends in the 1912 Olympic Stadium.
Bus routes that might cross the race routes are modified. Fortunately, the tunnelbana (T-Bana or metro) and ferry service are still intact. But walking could be tricky if one runs into the race path. Geez, it feels like Constitution Day in Oslo all over again when we were trapped by the endless parade.
But hey, you can count on the Swedes to have things well in hand. On their website, you can get detailed workarounds to get from wherever you are to where you want to be.
Google maps will post alerts when it gives you a route but the alerts are in Swedish and then you go through translation and maybe that particular alert was useful and maybe not. You might find out the elevators weren’t working at a metro stop you weren’t getting off at, for example.
I will let you know after the fact how efficiently (or not) things worked.
