Today was the National Day of Sweden which celebrates first: Gustav Vasa being elected king (6 June 1523) and second: the adoption of a new constitution (6 June 1809). Crowds gather, speeches are given, royalty makes a presence, the Air Force does a flyover.
We decided that instead of avoiding the crowds, we would dive in and mingle with the Swedes.
Simple route. T-bana to Gamla Stan for a cappuccino at the Espresso House, then ferry to the island of Djurgården where it was rumored we’d find happenings at the Skansen park.
After we had enough mingling, we ferried back to Gamla Stan. Grubb had a hankering to visit the Medieval Museum. I’d been there 7 years ago and didn’t want to go again so we went our separate ways and arranged to meet back up later near the Kings Palace behind the horse.
