The Livraria Lello bookstore, opened in 1906 and is billed as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. J.K Rowling lived in Porto for a couple of years (prior to her rise to stardom) and is said to have frequented the bookstore. Harry Potter fans may notice a striking resemblance to the Flourish and Blotts bookstore where books on magic can be purchased, as well as settings in the Hogwarts school.
We were warned there would be masses of people eagerly adventuring to the store. But wow, the lines were wrapped around the block. Fortunately, I had purchased tickets ahead of time online (yes, you must pay to enter but if you purchase a book, you get the price of your ticket discounted off the price of the book) so we moseyed past the crowds and walked right in.
