Maple sugar, maple filled chocolate, maple syrup, maple creemee, maple covered pepitas, maple infused olive oil, maple gin, maple chipotle hot sauce. Vermont’s state motto should be “No such thing as too much maple”.
Late in the afternoon today we ducked down to the Church Street Marketplace in downtown Burlington to browse the shops. It’s sort of like Boulder’s Pearl Street only a little more down home. I noticed a shop, sandwiched between Asia Noodle and the Body Shop which had bottles of maple rum, maple bourbon and other maple flavored liquor displayed front and center. Unable to resist, I stepped in and for $5.00, I could have a tasting of four different liquors. First I made sure Grubb knew how to navigate us home and then I indulged.
Here are my three favorites. The fourth was a maple rum that didn’t work for me. Darn that TSA, I could only buy in the mini sizes to take home. If they even make it home. I mean, we still have a week to go and the weather is turning chilly which requires a nip or two for warmth…ya think?
Which would you pick?
The Maple Cream Liqueur. Maybe a little in your morning coffee??
Oh that would be delicious!
Maple Negroni anyone?
Yes please. I have a little sampler jug of smoked maple syrup. I think a drop of that…
