At the Southern Vermont Arts Center today. A tranquil setting.
I was transfixed by the two special exhibits: Ashley Bryan and Sally Mavor.
Sally Mavor has perfected the art of embroidery to stitch together her creations. Mixed media with exquisite needle work.
Sally illustrated a children’s book written by Rebecca Bond, “My Bed: Enchanting Ways to Fall Asleep around the World”, that I immediately wanted to buy for myself. She painstakingly put together her figures to use as models for the drawings.
Ashley Bryan spent his life capturing joy in art. His gallery was full of colorful paintings, posters, and objects. As I walked in, I could feel his lightness. I smiled and might have even giggled.
