“It’s Easter Sunday. I thought we’d go to Jardim de Cristo Palacio”, Grubb said.
“OK. But will the palace be open?”, I asked.
“It’s not a palace.” Grubb states.
“It’s a Palacio you said?”, I asked, confused.
“Yes”
“But not a palace”
“Yes”
“Yes, it’s not a palace?”
“Yes. And plus, there is a delta coffee right across the street”, Grubb informs me.
“So we are going there so you can get coffee?”
“Yes, and see the Palacio”. Grubb says.
At this point I think it’s better just to tag along and see what’s what. I close my mouth and just go with the Grubb flow.
We did stroll the jardim (garden) that surrounds the Palacio that’s not a palace.
A cappuccino and pastry restored the balance. An added treat, Grubb had something called ‘chirping’ cappuccino. Turns out, in Portugal, one is allowed to have a cappuccino after 11am if it comes with a bird.
The orange thing is carrot, kind of a cross between a pudding and cake (flavorful and only slightly sweet). The brown thing is chocolate, sort of brownie-like, filled with a chocolate syrup and topped with thick chocolate icing (decadent).
Some one, I’m sure, will point out that these may not qualify as pastries. So call them sweet treats, or whatever.
