We’ve been expecting to run into numerous political demonstrations since Javier Milei, a Milton Friedman free market zealot elected in December, personifies the enemy in a heavily unionized country. So far we’ve only come across a small gathering of placard carriers blocking a street today, but when we were touring the San Telmo neighborhood on Sunday there were scattered opinions scrawled across the walls.
A photo of “Milei’s facho” on the facade of a nondescript building was supposed to go here, although I took the shot, it didn’t show up in my recorded shots. I guess I have to watch getting political while I’m visiting.
This sentiment was decorating the wall outside the courtyard of the San Pedro cathedral in San Telmo. The fact that it showed up in my photo album is an indication of how powerless the church is these days.
