One of the many natural sights in the Bariloche area is the string of seven lakes which stretch from Bariloche to San Martin de Los Andes. The lakes nestle up to the Andes to the west, which is also the Chilean border. Interesting story about how the Andes were designated as the border. A lot of friction between the Argentines and Chileans over that one. But that’s a story for another post.
Yesterday, we took a day tour on the short bus, traveling the route with Mattais as our guide and Bruno in the driver’s seat. along with a dozen other fellow travelers, hailing from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, and a couple Brits.
The round trip was 400 km with lots of lake views and small town strolling.
So many tidbits to come. Like the custom of mate sharing (as in the tea, Yerba Mate), the Continental Divide, the migration of the llamas, the cute marsupial, and so much more. Stay tuned.
I like the idea of being in either Spring or Fall all the time!!
I wouldn’t mind a touch of winter, some early fall and some late spring.
