I did an overlong post on cash in Argentina way back at the beginning of our trip. But perhaps you are curious about what the pesos look like.

There are also 100 and 500 peso notes. But we didn’t have any.

ARS $1000 is in the ballpark of US $1.00.
Carrying around the equivalent of US $100 could be 100 Argentinian notes or more. Our wallets are a total failure in that regard so the notes end up in a rubber banded wad at the bottom of my pack. Though I do have a nice zippered pocket on my purse that is just the right size.
When we are paying for a taxi, Grubb will pull a wad out from his pack and try to find the right bills. Occasionally the wad explodes onto the floor of the cab much to the taxi driver’s amusement.
These last couple of days, we are trying to spend down our stack of pesos before we leave. It’s a hard life I tell you. The left over pesos will end up in my collection of foreign money at home. It’s the just-in-case we ever go back, or maybe the-grandkids-will-get-a-kick-out-of-it stash. I have fun with it, but I was a stamp collecting kid and loved sorting through the brightly colored pictures and looking on my spinning globe to find the country.
