Why so crowded in off season? Is there even an off season anymore?
From Google’s Search Labs | AI Overview. “Major tourist areas are increasingly crowded during the “off-season” due to a combination of factors including the rise of remote work, increased accessibility through low-cost airlines, the impact of social media promoting popular destinations, and a post-pandemic surge in travel demand, making it harder to find truly “off-peak” times at many popular locations; essentially, more people are now able to travel flexibly throughout the year, leading to crowds even in previously considered off-season periods. “
The New York Times says “summer mobs and heat”.
What say you?
My guess is that it is a transient effect caused by the inability to travel safely during the pandemic. I think it will revert to the mean over several years.
So we are still bursting out of our isolation bubble. Doesn’t the world know that only us old retired folk are supposed to be out there traveling in off season?
