When we travel we rarely have the time, or the inclination, to read, or watch, the news. We map our daily destination, choose our mode of transport, luck on a good café for coffee, and then explore museums, historical sites, markets, parks, neighborhoods, interesting monuments, fascinating architecture, and then, after sampling the local fare, if we have the energy, enjoy a festival, parade, or performance. News, local or international, is a distraction.
We dropped off our absentee ballots weeks ago, so America, whatever, we’re in Nice now on the Cóte d’Azur. When we left Paris this morning it was overcast and cold. Nice is sunny and in the low 70s. It will be life on the Riviera for the next week.
