Our AirBnB in Paris was in the African quarter. The accommodation itself was “lived in” so the host’s belongings did clutter up the space. It was two bedroom, one bathroom with a separate toilet. I’d put it in the category of “ok”.
One of the beds was pretty uncomfortable but the other was okay. The hot water was limited but you could “boost” the hot water by getting up on a small stool and pushing the blue button on the hot water tank. That made it enough for a 5 minute shower. Two showers in a row not possible unless you like cold showers. Took hours to reheat. You had to re-boost after every shower.
Still, it was nice not to be in a touristed area and being right across from a metro stop made getting around super easy.

Our apartment in Nice is light and airy and big. Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms. Everything is comfortable. Plenty of hot water, great WiFi. The train station is a 10 minute walk and there are tram and bus stops all over the place. Four blocks from the beach.
I love seeing posts about your accommodations. Both places look quite nice. Hot water situation doesn’t sound like fun in the first! (Maybe the dishwasher heated its own water so at least you could use it to wash the dishes?) Both locations sound great.
I always like to see what places to stay look like also. We will be moving on to Arle on Friday so yet a different place.
As I learned from many years staying at Moira’s mother’s row house, heat during the night, something you would think essential in chilly Scotland, is an iffy proposition. The heat is turned on for the evening, but shut off at bedtime, coming on again shortly before up-get time. This is accomplished outside of your control. (Lots of people have gotten around this problem with portable electric heaters, despite the expense of running them.)
We found this to also be the case on our recent trip to Britain, even at 4-star hotels in the country. Weird to find a stone cold radiator when you get up to go to the loo at 2:00am when it freezing.
Our Paris apartment had an updated version of radiators but we didn’t use them. In Nice, every room in this apartment has a split for AC and heat. Haven’t needed either the cooling or the heat. The temps outside have been high 60s, low 70s and the apartment stays pleasant
Must be a European thing. We’ve had lots and lots of cold rooms in Spain. It’s always a treat to have a room where we can actually control the heat, but rare.
I remember traveling in Italy, must be 7 or 8 years ago and experienced the same thing in many of the apartments. Damp and chilled. In Argentina, I think all the apartments had splits although we only needed heat down in El Calafate.
