Musée Réattu, housed in a 15th century building, was delightful. We might have skipped it but for the steady rain. This was the first break in our perfect weather streak so not complaining. In fact, torrential downpours and thunderstorms had been forecast but the waterworks never got more intense than a steady gentle rain. Quite walkable with umbrellas but still, occasional excuses to get out of the rain are welcome.
The first several rooms in the museum were dedicated to the artist Réattu. Grubb has explained who he was. Once through those musty archives, the works started getting interesting.
The well marked route through the exhibitions criss-crossed a terrace overlooking a small courtyard. On the walls above were fantastical gargoyles doing their assigned task of water diversion.
Speaking of water…the museum fronted onto the River Rhône and even in the rain, we weren’t going to miss the opportunity to walk along the banks.
