Avignon. An intimate French restaurant. Took awhile to find. Many fine dining establishments were closed for Armistice Day (Monday, Nov 11). Finally came upon Le Vintage while googling “restaurants near me” in an ever widening circle around our apartment. It was 5:00pm and we were hungry having been chugging along on only a muffin we’d had earlier in the day. I immediately booked a table for the earliest time (7:00pm). In any case, later time slots were all full.
I was grateful it was only a 10 minute walk because it was very windy. The same kind of gusty, rocketing, hang on to your hat wind we’d had all day while exploring Baux-de-Provence.
We both had the 3 course option (30€ each)
Ella: Creamy butternut squash soup / savory roasted goat cheese with fig jam, salad and fries / berry topped raspberry mousse.
Grubb: Toast with melty cheese and caramelized onions and salad / succulent leg of Guinea fowl with roasted potatoes / decadent chocolate lava cake.
Oh my!!
Great meal for the price. $30 won’t get you a main course at lots of Albuquerque restaurants. Try getting a fancy meal here for two for less than $100, then add in a big tip.
Meals have been surprisingly reasonable
