We moved to the Comfort Hotel at the Arlanda airport. Via metro to Stockholm’s T-Central and then the Arlanda express train to Arlanda airport. The very same train that derailed 10 days ago. Today was the first day back in action. Only an 18 minute ride in smooth comfort. And it stayed on the tracks.
We wanted to make full use of our last day in Sweden and intended to get to the hotel well before check-in (like around 10am). and store our luggage. Lucky us, early check-in was available for a modest fee of $10 and a room available. So we did.
Then off we went. We found the train bound for Uppsala (there is a train station at the airport) and 20 minutes later, walked into blazing sunshine in downtown Uppsala.
Uppsala is known for its University, founded in 1577. Carl Linneaus, famous for developing the system of naming organisms, taught at the University in the early 1700s.
We walked, we ate, we walked, we had ice cream, we walked.
Train back to the hotel where we have a brilliant view of the airport tower.
Tomorrow is our journey home. Can you see our sad faces?
Arlanda to Frankfort to Houston to Albuquerque.
“Department of Science and Ideas”: a department I would like to be associated with. Was Linnaeus in that department?
Good question.
Hope your trip back goes smoothly! I have enjoyed every one of your and Grubb’s entries. Can’t wait to find out where your next adventure takes you!!
